...For the last 2+ years? The one that would end all my frustrations when shooting wildlife???
I was nearly ready to finally bite the bullet and buy it - the 70-300 has been giving me trouble for some time now (it was a cheap lens to start with, it was second hand, and it has used to death over the last 5 years. And dropped a few times).

The washing machine broke.

I swear it is a conspiracy... Cannot win.
Maybe I should pretend that I don't really want a new lens, that the kit I have is more than sufficient for my needs (HAH!) so as not to make the gods jealous.......:)
(Stoic concept - 'live hidden'. Italians are superstitious and tend to hang on to the past. BIG time).

Anyway - have ordered the new washing machine (will be delivered on Fri - thanks to Argos, AND they'll take the old one away), and have replaced the old 70-300 with a new one. Same model etc, only the new one doesn't freeze while trying to acquire focus (we discussed this with H - he thinks it's just dirt and grease accumulated over the years. A clean up job by Nikon would cost as much as a replacement).

Hey, at least the lens colour matches with the body... Black instead of black-and-silver (which matches the F80). I like to believe that it looks less cheap n' cheerful because it's black. :)
(Having said that, I read the reviews for the D model - mine is the G - and the consensus was don't bother and save your pennies).

What else - Mr. and Mrs. Sparrow are raising chicks under my roof!!

They are bringing food to the chicks from dawn to dusk... I hope I'll get to see the babies when they fledge. :)
